software spanning multiple CDs?

Hello all,

I have wrote one software which requires the whole CD to be copied onto
the hard drive.Currently the software is small in size so only one CD
is enough.
But i want to add the option of placing the software in multiple CDs
and while installing the software ,i want one dialog to appear which will prompt me to insert the next CD.(As is happening in case of the big softwares like Oracle ,Linux. etc.).
I am totally dumb in implementationg such kind of thing as I don't know
from where to begin.I also searched on the net with various combination of search but haven't found anything helpful.

Will someone pls help me and show me the proper direction?

Regards,
Yogesh Joshi

Hello Joshi,

I think what they do is copy setup program to Temp folder and launch it.
This way you can safely display the "change disc" dialog and if there is the sequential disc - continue with installation from it. If the second disc wasn’t provided it can also abort the setup process and delete all what has been already copied
What is your opinion on the subject?
Please write what you have done.

how to find the status of CD drive?open or close?

Thanks Aie0,

I am working on your suggestion .

since I am not using any setup api/wizard from windows I have to build the logic from scratch.
I have achieved upto the level of copying the CD files from CD to temp folder.
but now stuck with the CD related functionlity.
I am able to open and close the CD driver programatically but yet find any solution to check whether the CD drive is open or close?and whether there is a CD inside the CD drive?

Hope someone help this time as well..

Thanks and Regards,
Yogesh Joshi
