Most likely; MySQL was NOT started.

To start MySQL run:C:\mysql\bin\mysqld-opt.exe

On the homepage of phpMyAdmin, look for the link, Users; look to the bottom if you want to add, or click on Edit if you want to modify. ALWAYS go back to the homepage and click on the link RELOAD MYSQL << this is important, otherwise your changes will not be in effect until you restart MySQL.

Yes and yes. You have to 'grant' the username (of phpmyadmin which is usually 'root' unless you change it yourself) the ability to create dbs of course.

oh ya, last time u say the phpadmin help file is in progressing. so if the help file is done pls let me noe through here because i need it very much. i m poor in using these coding n database design tools. so pls tell me when it is done. thanks n trouble u

Seraching in google led me to this.
I have phpMyAdmin setup alright but the url is like http://www.xxx.com/phpMyAdmin
This automatically connects to the database with username and password - thats because its set in config.inc.php.
Anyway to have it ask for username and password ?
