hi , i have a 2 really stupid,(simple) problems that i just dare not ask anyone i know
help???

1)suppose someone(!) downloaded a file from a site (such as sourceforge) . well they say you should select a mirror, well what exactly does this mean????

2) and correct me if im wrong on this one i just want to be sure:
after i do download the file im supposed to extract it to a drive that i want , right?i should do this using sth like winRAR ?and then after that i should be able to use the file or what ever i've downloaded??????

1. A "mirror" just means using a download site other than the primary. For example, linux kernels can be d/l'ed directly from the main kernel site, or you can get them from designated repositories such as certain universities or other FTP servers.

2. Yes, just d/l, uncompress if necessary, and use it.
