Question

Graphic problem in Unreal Tournament 2004

Hi!

I have a graphic problem with Unreal Tournament 2004 and i don't know if it is a bug or my graphic card.
I have the game patched with the latest patch.
The problem is that the floor, walls and ceiling disapear sometimes. It's not always like that and sometimes it helps if i reload the map. Players, ammo, weapons and powerups i can always see but the rest keep disapering and reapering. It's realy har to play when you don't know if you are walking on the floor or if there is a gap, also it hard to see if you have a clear path to the enemy or if theres a wall between.
Does anybody else have the same problem and perhaps a solution to the problem.
My graphic card is a Geforce Ti 4200, and i know it isn't in the best shape, so i wouldnt be surprised if thats the problem.

Do you have the latest Nvidia drivers? I know you have the latest UT version, but you might check to see if there's a UT patch expressly for this problem.

Yes i have the latest NVIDIA drivers. I havent found any patched that would fix this problem. Don't know if its just me who has this problem or if there is anybody else.

Does it make a difference if you change the resolution or other graphic settings for the game? Maybe your driving your system too hard so it's compensating by dumping textures or whatever.

You might have a point. I haven't tried it yet, but i will the next time i feel like playing. Do you have any idea of wich i should changes besides the resolution, i don't know so much about graphic controls.

I think UT has a way to set everything at once; you can look for something under the "Graphics" option in the game that lets you choose Low, Medium, or High. Otherwise you can look at each setting in the Graphics category. There might be things like bumpmapping, z-buffer, anistropic filtering, antialiasing, shadows, dynamic lighting, etc. I'd say set everything to low and work your way up until you find something that's acceptable but doesn't cause problems.

Two other things to check for check the temp of the video card overheating will cause Graphics problems. The other thing is with Nvidia that some of their latest drivers cause problems if all else fails then try rolling your drivers back maybe one or two versions. I don't normally suggest this but I have had some problems lately with the latest drivers and up until just a day or so ago I was using Nvidias older drivers.

i have this problem as well but its not all of walls that vanish with me its only sections like pieces of the floor. Also there are things that show upa that arent ment to be there like shodows but they are still there even if i turn the dynamic lighting and the shadows off completly. i am using a 256Mb XFX 6600
