Video Game Violence

I was reading a article about this topic a few weeks ago and was wounding what other people though about this. What do you think about video game violence like GTA 3 or Soldier of fortune?

I agree that the video game violence = agressive people is a touchy issue (I don't buy it) and the whole political correctness direction annoys the hell out of me. I mean have you seen today's cartoons? They are a pile of nauseous whatsits, I remember all the great one's from the 80s but recently I found out that the best one's were hidden from the British public. If you ever speak to anyone in North Italy (for example), you'll hear of all these fantastic cartoons that never saw the light of day in Britain or America, because they were too violent, clever, interesting, god knows what. Are we trying to bring up a group of braindead commercialised idiots? That's the way its looking anyway.

Back to the point, I think there's far too many fighting games and I've played some like Counterstrike. It might be a great game, but some of the recent copies have really ticked me off. Take for example, the one that was mirroring the D-Day landing. I've never seen something more offensive to the people that were there than a game copying what they were sacrificing their lives for. This is just plain wrong for software companies to create and obviously most people don't give a rats *** since it sold well. I just think there should be a level that should not be crossed, because there's too many idiots out there believing that this is the right thing to do. Period

. But to be truthful I've never though about games that would mirror the d day landing or games like medal of honor being offensive and this may be because a lot of my older family members have been in World War 2 and Vietnam and they been as eager as my self to play. I personal think that one of the biggest problems I see with the game violence is that people need to learn to tell the different between games and real life.

Oh, I guess it was me last night. (Blonde Moment) . It's got to be that third shift. you should see me sometimes-I am a walking Zombie. But thanks. sorry it confused me. Sometimes I just have to sit back sometimes close me eyes and count to 10. I just get overloaded with all the articles. I read some of the article today and it's never anybody's fault anymore someone else is always to blame. jrobbio I'm not talking about your opinion that you have expressed. you have given me something to think about and to research. I'm not sure if I agree or disagree but when I'm fully equiped to do one or the other, I will.

I don't think that violence in today's games and movies cause aggressive behavior, but I certainly think that it glamorizes violence. While I seriously doubt that many of the school shootings were because of videogame violence, I do think that the youth of the Western world will grow up to be totally indifferent to the horrors of war and everyday crime. Many of these kids will grow up with attitudes such as, "Oh, this guy just mowed down 5 people in 2 seconds; that's cool!" I've also seen more kids playing with toy guns and BB guns -- further proof that videogames are portraying violence as "cool". This is why I think that violent videogames should be banned from the market altogether. Even if we only allow people over 17 to buy such games, kids will still be able to get their hands on such products buy simply asking their carefree parents who see nothing wrong with violence. In an age when we are trying to stop nuclear warfare from ever happening, parents need to teach their kids that nuclear weapons are not cool or funny. Unfortunately, parents are NOT doing this, and I am worried for not only this generation but also the generations to come.
