any idea's?

dont know if this is the right forum but it didnt seam to be a hardware isue. i have recently had to reformat my seconed hard drive as it got corrupted but now for somereason i have no network. i have got a router distributing ip addresse's but for some reason my computer is has been conflicting with the router ip. and wont network.

so now ive given my machine a specific ip address, i have network like i have never had it before but i cannot get internet. im told that i need to set the gateway as the router's ip address to get internet working.

so i have done that but i still dont have any internet.

i have also tried uninstalling the adapter and reinstalling it but it still have the same problem.

is there aything else i can do or does anyone know what the problem is?

btw im am using a BNC connection on 98 as i cant go wireless.

Can you connect your computer directly to the Internet w/o using the router? That will narrow down where the problem lies.

Does the router appear to be receiving data from the 'net? i.e. are the lights blinking as they should? Do you have any conflicts or problems showing up in Device Manager?

ok i have benable to get 4 other computers to link up and connect to the net no problem. i can ping the router and receive packets from it. i can also access the router from my computer. as from connecting it directly it wont be easy as my computer is in a remote part of the house. i will see if i can take it to the office and connect there.

device manager says that everything is working properly.

Which Windows is your computer using? If it XP check to make sure that the build-in firewall for XP is disabled. if it is enabled then it could be blocking you from getting to the internet.
