Apache only works on localhostI have searched lots of forums and googled but I haven't found anything that fixes my problem. This is one of my last resorts.
I am running Windows Xp SP2. I have installed Apache 2, PHP 5, and mySql 4.1. All work properly. They can all talk to each other correctly. My problem is that I can only access my page through localhost and through 127.0.0.1. I have tried turning off all my firewalls. My server is listening on the http port 80. Any ideas on what I should do? Is there any http.conf setting that I should add/delete/modify? Thanks in advance!!! -- Brandon www.jujikasoft.com GOD Bless you Always!!!!!!!!! |

If all your firewalls are turned off it should work just fine.
What could be that case is that your isp is blocking your webserver port. You can trymaking Apache listen on port 5000 or something if that works your isp is blocking port 80 and there is almost nothing your can do about that.. |

there is some direcitves in httpd.conf. at example:
" #Listen 3000 #Listen 12.34.56.78:80 #BindAddress * " comment this directives next. start/run/apache net stop and start/run/apache net start and enjoy if you are using <VirtualHost> then check it also P.S. also Windows XP with SP2 have turned on integrated firewall on all networks interfaces. Better way turn off one. |

I am sorry but I don't quite understand. What exactly do I need to do? What should I comment out / add? I think it is something wrong with my configuration because I friend across the hall from me got his apache server to run and accept requests from any computer on campus. The only difference was that we was using Slackware Linux. Thank you again for reading my post! =)

If apache configured as name-based then you need also setting resolv.conf, hosts or (if you use own DNS server) bind (note: i am using FreeBSD)
if apache - ip-based then ServerName your_ip_address in httpd.conf or maybe you firewall drops all external packets. better attach your httpd.conf i will look throught it later or call me with ICQ. My number: 406107 I am sorry for my english. My mother language is russian. |
