Hi All,

I'm coding in a vc++.net project.

Does anyone have any info on how to compress a file so that its a true .zip file? I tried just renaming the file using code but that didn't work. D'OH!

I basically have a .txt file I output my data too and then I want to get it in .zip compressed format.

Is there a zip library somewhere maybe?

Any ideas?

Any help or info would be outstanding.

Hi.

There's a free library here. I think it was built in C#.
You should be able to use it from Visual C++ too if you build managed code.
I didn't try it yet, but if you need help using it, please let me know and I'll try to help.

I ended up going the zlib route. It looked good but only had C or C# implementations of the library. I was working in c++.net and didn't have time (and maybe experience ) to write my own wrapper.

I luckily found this post on a c++ wrapper for the library though:

I worked for zipping as well as unzipping files.
