CD Burner problems

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can tell me why my CD burner isn't working. I have a HP Pavilion Celeron a305w, I 've had it for less than a year. The CD Burner worked fine for the first couple of months and then it just suddenly started not working. It will get almost through burning the CD, but then close to the end it will say it had an error or could not complete. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks for telling me that! I pretty much figured I would have to get a new one. Did you try taking it to get fixed or anything? I thought about doing that.

Have you tried a different brand of blank CD's? Sometimes just using a different manufacturer makes all the difference.

Don't forget to d/l the latest firmware upgrades, BIOS upgrades, etc. It could be a problem that has already been corrected. Also, does it make a difference if you burn a CD w/o doing anything else at the same time? Your computer could just have an issue w/ multitasking.

Yes, I have tried getting different brands and it still does the same thing. Where would I find the latest upgrades? We have tried using a couple different music programs in the computer to burn CDs and it still does the same thing. It doesnt make a difference if we are using other programs or not. I could try newer downloads, but what kind? Do you mean music programs?

Go to the manufacturer's web site and find your model in the "support" section. From there you should be able to get any new firmware updates and maybe software updates. It might also tell you if it's a known problem and any workarounds they've created.

If it's still under warranty you might consider asking for it to be fixed or replaced.
