The topsites button that we all use is very nice and all that so don't get me wrong thinking that I don't like it. Okay that's out of the way I think it may be useful to make some themed buttons that people could choose. One could be more directed at webhosts, another forums, webmaster and then maybe some more eyecatching (not animated) one's to go with other categories you may choose to add such as entertainment

I just feel that people are more likely to click it if they feel that similar information to the site will be found, which ok it won't for some, but hey that's another exposed visitor.

I know it is supposed to be subtle/lowkey but I can't help thinking that you are missing out on some decent traffic through misrepresentation.

That is an excellent suggestion Rob. I doubt I will do something about it soon though...

Since you are busy and I had some spare time (I don't really I was avoiding my dissertation) I made a couple of practice buttons for you to check out. I've attached one of for webmasters and one for fun since it was convenient. They aren't especially amazing, but they do have some illusion going on, which wasn't intended where the border lines don't look parallel. They look quite small, but I suppose it needs to be seen on a website to really know.
