Modems In DOS

Greetings,

Would like to know if any one could help with a modum problem I am having when in DOS.

I am attempting to use an old program PCTOOLS commute (please don't ask why, its already kinda embarasing). Any way, it runs under DOS. The program will not pick up (recognize) my modem, on the correct com port.

Hmmmmmm, I run win 98, and have an internal modem (com 2 in windows) and I have a PCMCI slot with a modem (com 3 in windows).

When ever I attempt to set the com port to com2 or com3 while I am in commute (DOS based) i get an error message that the modem is not connected. Yad Yad Yad.

I guess I would need to config the modem under DOS. (ofcourse DOS in very limited with win9.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be very helpfull.

Regards,
Vader

Greetings Lord Vader,

I must say you got me thinking about this...

I hadn't even thought about this before today - so you made me curious enough to search the web for an answer; also to learn something new today.

The good news is that there's a solution (even better because you use Win9; the bad news is that it's gonna cost ya!

Nice find J, I was just about to post and say there was no hope, that AFAIK Winmodems don't work at all in DOS. You learn something new every day!

Thanks

Greetings,

This is very helpfull, good new indeed!

Looks like I will have to install it on both systems, but will have to find out if I will need 2 copies. My mother lost her disk configuration so she is only at an A:> prompt. This is why I need DOS comunication. As well as it was driving me nuts, trying to figure out how to do it.

I'v already FEDX a floppy with some hard drive boot sector diagnostic software to investegate the problem.

Thanks for the help J & Garth, I hope I will be able to provide some assistance someday as well. A good sight.

Regards,

Vader

If I have learnt anything being online all this time is that you should keep on looking for something that could do the same thing for free - 9 times out of 10, you would find it eventually!
