Question

Suggestions for beginner

Hello,
I've decided today that I want to learn a programming language. Yes, out of the blue, just like that. Hehe, actually, I've wanted to for a long time, but have never really had the guts to get started.

What I'm here for is this. I'm not entirely sure where to start, and I thought it would be best to get some suggestions from people who've already done what I'm about to do. Are there any books which are great to get someone started? Are there books to stay away from? Are there certain programs which are better than others for doing X Y or Z? Any information would be appreciated, as I feel I have nowhere to begin.

Thanks in advance,
Eric

Hello Eric!. I am also just learning, I chose c++ because it is a very powerfull and versitile language(so I am told lol) I have found it rather difficult but am enjoying the challenge . One thing I will say is make sure the book or e-course that you chose is up to date before you start I found out too late
;-) Well good luck in your programming adventures.
sincerly Jon
ps I can send you a link for an online c++ course if you like.
