Hope you had a good day Garth and the Guinness was good.

For me I got a Gypsy woman selling lucky charms at my door and got coaxed into buying one.

Even in this part of the world, some people celebrate this day, believe it or not! I personally, haven't figured out the story behind this 'celebration' though....

St Patrick's Day is the Irish celebration of our patron saint, who brought Christianity to our green shores, and also according to myth, drove all the snakes from Ireland.

Whatever that has to do with a parade is beyond me. But us Irish are quite well known for celebrating, whether it's myth or not

Nobody really celebrates it here. Even in my school (which is an American school), very few people wore green.

Not to worry conkermaniac if things here in the States continue going the way there going now. We won't be celebrating it here much longer. I heard about a school that was going to have a little party for the second graders on St Patrick's Day by have green cupcakes and cookie but some parent complained about the religious undertones of the holiday. Here take a look this is from Foxnews.

Quote:
Denizens of an online community bulletin board in Maplewood, N.J., report that a second-grade class in that town had to cancel a St. Patrick’s Day party after one parent complained about the religious undertones of the holiday.

The parent says a second-grade class at Clinton Elementary School planned to serve green cupcakes and cookies in a class party. The parent’s complaints, however, derailed the fest.

"Perhaps fear that the papists will descend upon the second-graders of Clinton is the cause for concern," writes the poster.

You know they will its only matter of time. I'm waiting for the day when you can't offend any body with anything could you imagine WW2 offends the Jews so we will no longer teach it. Civil War offends the Africa-Americans we will no longer teach the Civil War. I mean good god where it going to stop that would be all we need lets not mention the fact that most American High School students can't even find there own state on a map that’s just sad.

How true. I wonder do people realise just how stupid they're being? Probably not.

Why don't all the non-Christian peoples parade down the streets to stop Christmas and Easter? Surely they've got a lot against out 'pagan' festivals.

My view is probably biased, but this to me is indicative of life in America. So little tolerance of others. If you disagree at all, complain. If someone screwing up affects you, you sue them! (I'm not pointing you out pcxgamer) Most people are out there only for number 1, themselves.

And the scary thing is, I'm seeing much more of it in Ireland. It saddens me.
