Downloading images

I was wondering if anyone knows if the following is possible:

Create an HTML page with images. When you click on an image it automatically downloads. This way you don't need to right-click/save-image-as. I figure it would take JavaScript to accomplish.

If it is possible, how do you control the download directory? The HTML will reside on the local computer, the images are from the web.

I think it only possible in case of special server-side config treating all images as regular files - so then if you will click on them they will not be shown as images but will be dropped as regular downloads like .zip files for example.
Also it is possible to do with special php or cgi scripts - which will take image and return it with header of regular file.

Ahhh, so it can probably only be done if set up on the server itself. That's what I figured. Thanks HostStock

Well, it's not exactely the same method as you described, but check this site:

It's a cool little program, I've been using it for a while now and I like it a lot.
