Referral reciprocal linking ideaIn order to encourage people to link to my site I have set up a referral reciprocal link script using mySQL that shows the last 10 referrals to any one page. It has actually turned out even better than I have anticipated since I placed the information in the index.php it actually descriminates each different page on my site that uses the index.php as different. This means that I can see and others where people are coming from on different pages (obvious but true) rather than being a generic link.
The only issue that I can see is of my own site appearing as the referral site when clicking from page to page. The script I used is here: made byt the guy at ncyoung.com : http://www.desilva.biz/forum/viewtopic497.php?s= Let me know what you think of the idea and anything I may have overlooked. |

This shouldn't really be a problem, simply modify your script slightly so that if the refferer starts with http://www.your-site.com/ OR is simply a filename without any domain in front of it, it won't get added to the DB and therefore won't be shown either. If you need help with this let me know and post the script your using here and I'll do what I can to help out, though it may take me a few days as my access is somewhat limited at the moment... Hi Elmseeker thanks for the offer but it turned out that I had been really thick since all that was needed was for me to place my site name in the ignore list included in the script. It was as simple as that I just had to remove the already recorded ones from mySQL and its raring to go. It even said in the ignore list at the top: your-domain
