Images to lighten...

Hi !

On the site i am working on, i feel the images have difficulties to arrive because they are too heavy (some weight more than 1 Mo).

I'd like to know the optimal weight of an image for the web.

Knowing that, i'd like either to generate lighter ones on the flight (?) or to generate them once for all.

I fell i could get it with PHP, but i don't really see how to apply this possibility to my site.

To understand the problem, come to http://lesitedelafetedudemisiecle.chez.tiscali.fr/index.php

Thanx for your help.

Not a clue what you're talking about. I tried to go to your site. After two minutes I gave up. Nothing loaded but your [annoying] opening page.

You will need to use an imaging program to reduce them. What imageing program do you have?

I see some images being referenced in your source code, but none on the webpage. I did go to this link though: http://lesitedelafetedudemisiecle.ch.../Images/20.jpg - the image is 1883 by 1386 which is way too large for an image to be on a website, it is about 78K in size as well. I reduced that to 640 by 471 which does reduce that image 11K - not that much - but every little bit helps.

Anytime. If you do have those images on a webpage - netmechanic.com might be able to help you reduce the size. You might check out Image Editing - they have some free programs there

Thanks Walt - I could not remember that name. I have Photoshop, etc and I tend to forget the name of the freeware programs
