Analyzing the March Google update

Maybe I have been slow on this but I'm certain it was 4 the last time I looked. Well done everyone especially admin and the moderators for the sterling work you've done even before I came here. It is quite impressive what words this forum appears under in the search engines nowadays even when it is not related to webmastering I've seen it cheekily pop up.
Hats off to you all

Jrobbio,

I have edited the title of this thread so that we can have a general discussion on the latest Google update.

------

Some of you might have seen this first hand, but Google has added an "expired domain" filter that has severely affected many sites.

It seems that Google is PR0 ing and removing domains that expired and were re-registered, either to point to an existing site or for new content. The filter is buggy, because many of these sites are quite legit, and have added links after the re-registration. Should be fun....

It is quite amusing this because many sites have actually sold on domains that currently have a decent PR rating. Maybe it is in order to combat this that google is nulling their effect. I will certainly try not to forget to re-register mine :')
Does that mean that if one accidentally lets their domain expire and then goes to re-register for the same reason they can be unknowingly punished. Seems a bit harsh to me.

Yeah, there is a lot of spamming and redirecting happenning with expired domains. My guess is that this is what they wished to fix...but they have opened a whole new can of worms and their algorithm has turned out to be very buggy.
