How secure is YOUR browser?Run the test developed by Scanit, and see if you've any holes in your browser setup.
www.scanit.be It does take a little time, and is pop-up hell, but it's supposed to be very thorough. Note: if you're on Linux, don't bother as it's not very compatible & does crash things up. Garth Farley |

PUH AlertPop-up Hell - that's a nice one! I think I can create my own special Acronym for it : PUH
Got the bad news - a couple of vulnerabilities found. I would fix it but I can't stand the downloading and running thing. I don't understand why they don't allow us to just save the download /patches / fixes so we don't have to download them again (if I re-install Windows). __________________

Ditto, have Win 2k, and haven't bothered to apply one of the 3 service packs, let alone the patches. It just (about) works the way it is.. It's too much work trying to follow the likes of www.windows-help.net

2 medium vulnerabilities for me with no patches available for them. The only recommendations given is to disable javascript...
Thanks for that Garth its nice to hear that something independent of Microsoft can give confirm that they are fixing problems. |

I would suggest a detailed reading of the "Terms of Service" before installing W2K's SP3.

Really, why?
I've heard bad things about the latest SP for Office, but not Win 2k. GF |

SP3 (as per hearsay re the TOS) allows Microsoft to access your computer when it chooses to "fix any errors". Same with XP.

Yeah...well...That's what firewalls are for, and if MS were to find a way to bypass my firewall without my permission they'd be in Lawsuit Hell...and I'd be rich...RICH I TELL YOU MUAHAhahahahaha

Since the firewall runs on top of the OS, I would say that it would be of no use. And no lawsuits...because remember, you agreed to the terms when you installed the update!

And here's me thinking that I have a nicely secure computer getting rid of all the adware and spyware. I just read that if you have the google toolbar they update the software without asking you first.
Anyone got Lindows I might move to that |
