After loading MySql, I enjoyed access to its tables simply by typing into the browser's URL: "localhost". Mysteriously, it took me to phpMyAdmin, where I could toy with the MySql tables.

But I ran into some problems with MySql and did something at the command line to change things because now I cannot do my neat trick and access phpMyAdmin any more. I suspect I punched in "--old-passwords" somewhere and the password length may be the culprit.

Any suggestions to help me out? Thanks.

Are you getting any phpmyadmin page at all
or an access denied page?

Have you tried with no usernae and no password?

Like I said, I would open the browser (firefox in my case), type into the URL "localhost", hit enter, and voila - phpMyAdmin 2.5 would just open up.

In answer to your question then, what parameters I enter - none! I suppose it just takes my administrator login data when I log on to WIN2K. But - my question is - what could have changed this, and it no longer allows me access to the mysql database?
