I bounced into a post on these forums from a google search on a complie problem I had, the post was unanswered, and (having spent ages look for the cure) I just had to come back and post the answer ....

and well after having a look around its really looks quite good here

I work at home, currently developing my first game.

Hello Viz,

Welcome to GIDForums™.

It's people like you that we like to see on GIDForums™. You cared enough to register just to reply (with some relevant information) to an unanswered/unresolved question.

I admire people like you and it's what makes this place unique (at least I think it's unique). Our regular and established members here are very generous with sharing their knowledge and that's what you have in common.

Good luck with the game, I hope to hear updates about it very soon.

The games a multiplayer space trading RPG, for the graphics engine I am looking at Ogre, but I intend to allow for third party clients, using VC6 3DS max, on Win 2k but trying to keep all the backend code cross platform.

When I started out a 19 months ago I had zero C++ experience, so I am still very much a novice programmer
