Russian vs Americans = Malaysia wins

After digging to a depth of 100m last year, Russian scientists found traces of
copper wiring dating back 1000 years, and came to the conclusion that their
ancestors already had a telephone network one thousand years ago.

So as not to be outdone, in the weeks that followed, American
scientists dug 200m, and headlines in the US newspapers read: "US
scientists have found traces of 2000 year old optical fibers and have
concluded that their ancestors already had advanced high tech
digital telephone 1000 years earlier than the Russians."

One week later, a Malaysian scientist En Mat Boot Apiau, reported
the following: "After digging as deep as 500m at Tg. Kidurong, Malaysian
scientists found absolutely nothing. They have concluded that 5000
years ago, their ancestors were already using wireless mobile phones."

MALAYSIA BOLEH !!!

hehe

Thanks Max, I was inspired so I dug 1000 m in my new hometown and found the following,

1. a script to Star Wars dated 2100 BC
2. the source code for the internet itself (co-written by Al Gore)

From this I conclude that Americans had Sci-Fi wonders well before the birth of Christ. This can only mean that Jeebuz would have seen the Star Wars trilogy and perhaps this was the real reason for opting off this mortal coil. Even he saw that we would destroy the art of storytelling and transmit the results across the globe. This was the real reason for the birth of the web.

Yea though I walk through the valley of death I will only fear a re-release of Star Wars and all the downloadable trailers that come with it.

BTW - Jeebuz is a Simpson's character if you are uninitiated.

Yeah, I get that a lot. Just my way of saying I enjoyed your post.

On a side note, this weeks "The West Wing" (American tv series) had one of the characters (portrayed by Alan Alda) talking about the equality in trade and paying Malaysians $7.00(American) and hour and saying, "Do you know what real estate prices are in Kuala Lupur?" (sorry if I butchered the spelling) Before finding GID I never would have had a second thought. Now, I am slightly offended. Did anyone else catch this or am I just being hypersensitive? It sure seemed like a cheap shot at Malaysia to me.

Just one fool's opinion.

Mark

JdS will become famous soon enough
Max, it's nice to see that you can laugh at yourself...

cable_guy_67, real estate prices in Kuala Lumpur is nothing to joke about, I can assure you. Don't be offended by what you see or hear on TV - it's all "entertainment" anyway. I am sure Alan Alda hasn't visited KL recently, otherwise he would have had problems saying the line with a straight face.

You know, it was never so much what what said (granted the reason it caught my ear was the folks that I have met here) but the fact that such a stupid thing would be said in the first place. If it were true it would still show what permeates the American Entertainment Industry. We export more of this garbage than I can even imagine (when in Switzerland I was astounded how many American sit-coms have been dubbed into French and German) and it doesn't put a good face us as a group.

Oh, well, J's advice is sound, it is all just entertainment. Or as I like to say, "If you don't like it, shut it off and read a book."
