STANDARD DISCLAIMER
Overclocking, due to it’s nature of pushing computer components right to their limits, has many inherent risks. If done improperly, it can cause permanent damage to a PC, and decrease the stability of the system. Even when exercised with caution and foresight, the lifetime of components can be significantly attenuated, and some may even fail. We hold no responsibility for any damage caused to computer parts.
Either way, it’s best if you plan your overclock before you even buy your new PC. The best approach is:

RESEARCH: Research which components are most likely to favour overclocking.

COOLING: Buy or construct appropriate cooling for the system.
PREPARE: Unlock, activate or do whatever is necessary to allow the overclocking of the system.

CAUTION: DON’T rush it.

OVERCLOCK: Crank up that silicon!
Note: If you don’t have the luxury of being at the pre-purchase phase, then you’ll have to skip ‘research’, and jump right into ‘cooling’.

RESEARCH
COOLING
Overclocking creates heat. Heat kills computers. It’s that simple, so cooling is of the utmost importance to an overclocker. There are two main paths to take with cooling, air and water. The decision as to which to take is often based on cost alone. Watercooling can give significantly better results, be quieter, and look cooler ( ), but is significantly more expensive than just a few fans.

WATERCOOLING
AIRCOOLING
Also of importance is the area you are cooling....

GRAPHICS CARD - GPU
GRAPHICS CARD - RAM
SYSTEM - CPU
SYSTEM - CHIPSET
SYSTEM - RAM
SYSTEM - CASE
OTHER
( HDD, PSU, etc )
PREPARE
CAUTION

You know... i really miss the old days when everything was manual... and all you had to do to overclock your system was flick a few dip-switches, and hey presto! your new Pentium 100 is now a Pentium 150

yup...but even nowadays sum older boards eg..Soltek 75Kav hav Dip switches which can change the frequency of the CPU..but before u can do tht u need to Unlock ur CPU, in which case u need to get ur self a 2b or Hb pensil and scratch out the L1 bridges on the CPU...

its quite simple actually if u really knw wht ur doin...

hmm dunno wht u are saying about how easy it was back in the old days were they was DIP SWITCHES....excuse me.....thts the reason never boards dont hav dip switches because motherboards nowadays are Jumperless..everything set thru bios...way easier than doing it manually..
