Command & Conquer 95 under XPHere's an apparant solution.
Note: This bloke apparently was a westwood employee, and was dispelling a lot of theories that were getting thrown around about why it wouldn't work: Quote:

Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks. BTW, I'll add that this is a Sony Vaio laptop PCG-FRV35, though I also wasn't able to get this to run on my desktop either. __________________

Wow... that's interesting... I'll try posting on an oldgamers board I use a lot. They usually have an answer for everything...
I got a response... but the question is... are you using C&C Gold...? Which version you're running would be really helpful. Also, if you haven't already... make sure you've got all the patches... that could be your problem. EDIT: That error apparently occurs with C&C Gold and you need a directx patch... http://perso.wanadoo.fr/doctornono/R...OLDXPPATCH.ZIP ... anyway, this should solve your problem. |

Ha ha, it works!
I noticed this is the same file I downloaded earlier but then I discovered that, for some reason, my original file was 1/2 the size of this version. But it works now. Guess I can go relive my "glory days". :-)__________________

Same problem with Red AlertI have the similar problem with Red Alert with Windows XP...I tried to just do the compatability mode when installing and running the game and i guess that's not enough. I used the method above for getting C&C Gold to work and was able to get that working. Any suggestions?

figured it outi read on another post that the same patch for c&c gold that you need to use to get that to work will work for RA, so if any of you else out there are stuck, just do what dexter said and it works for RA.

Red AlertFor Red Alert I found that installing the expansion packs, specifically Aftermath, updated it to run on Windows XP, I didn't have to download anything at all. I installed RA, then Counterstrike, then Aftermath, and it worked fine.
If I install C&C: Covert Operations for C&C will it require patching of any kind? |
