Could you post a link to the driver you need so I can take a look at it please. Then I will take a look and see if I can be of more help.

Question

Well, that is my problem. I am not sure which driver I need, if I need a driver at all. From what my friends are telling me, I need an entirely new video card. Here is a link to S3's home page.
http://www.s3graphics.com/
If you go under "drivers", you can see that the upgrades are for the "ProsavageDDR family" and they are all for VT chips...mine is a KM chip. Also, that "DDR" is worrying me. Is that referring to RAM? Because if, so I have SD RAM. Thanks for taking the time to try to help.

You'll need a new card

Under the "drivers" drop-down, there's a link to "legacy" drivers. If you go there, at the bottom of the page your video chip is listed as discontinued. Here's what it reads:
Quote:
S3 Graphics has ceased manufacture and sale of the following products. S3 Graphics will no longer provide drivers for new operating systems or any other support for these devices. The drivers provided through our Drivers page are the latest versions and will not be updated. In-the-box drivers for recent Microsoft operating systems may be available as noted below. (Only products older than the operating system are be included in the box.)
Your chip is listed as having drivers included w/ XP and Win2003. If you're not using either of those OSes, then you're probably SOL and will need a new video card. Because you have an integrated video chip, you'll have to disable it first if you install a new card.

BTW, the "DDR" it's mentioning is DDR video RAM on the video card itself, not your motheboard RAM. Something to be aware of if you ever update a new card.

Well the good news is I am using XP. But because my chip is discontinued, does that mean I can't update it? Not really sure what I should do. If there's nothing that can be done, it's ok. It's not really a huge problem because it's only this one game I am trying to install and I don't have enough hard drive memory for any more. Thanks again.

Nope, no updates will be available. The only thing you have is what's included in XP, which is what you're probably using right now. Since MS doesn't create new drivers, I don't think you'll find new drivers. It is possible to find someone making 3rd party drivers (similar to what you find w/ Linux), but don't count on it. I would say your only option right now is buy a new card. If you're still interested, try www.pricewatch.com.

Well I appreciate all your help, once again. One last question...which video card would I need? I went to the site you linked and the prices seem reasonable. Thanks again.

Consider what you want in a new card (games, 2d performance, etc.) and how much you want to spend. Actually, figure your price range then research the cards within that range and get the best one. You can always ask for opinions when you narrow it down. Good luck.
