WinDVD v1.2.96c serial number

Some one was asking on the web about Intervideo WinDVD v 1.2.96c and getting a serial number.... here it is:

If you have recieved WinDVD with some other computer component, you may try the following serial number:

<snipped>

or

<snipped>.

Hope this helps!

Re: WinDVD v1.2.96c serial number

Hi, shame about the serial no. being snipped. I am in the situation in which I think my winDVD software may be corrupted and I want to re-install it. I have a file called serial.txt in the original software and it gives a long serial no to put in when installing the software. Trouble is that when I type in this number and click "next", it says the number is not valid. So I would really like to have a number that will work. I searched in the 'net for one and got your site only to find ...."snipped"! Boo Hoo! No can do!

This has nothing to do with piracy, in my case. The company gave me a number which their own system won't recognise. I am no pirate! But unfortunately I have lost the original documentation (which may have had a different number, for all I know) that came with the CD RW player, although I still have the original box and CD-Roms ( one for InterVideo/DVD, the other for Nero Express).

What is a person to do?

Re: WinDVD v1.2.96c serial number

You might be able to contact the company directly, telling them of your problem. If you can send them proof of purchase, they may give you a new number. At a minimum I would think you could get a discount to upgrade to the current version. They may want you to actually mail them something physical, like the CD. Worst that can happen is they say they can't help you. (Actually the worst that can happen is they say your a pirate and take you to court. )

Re: WinDVD v1.2.96c serial number

I am in same situation. I bought a dell in 99 and had to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the windows and everything else. I'm a retired 62 year old woman and I'm not trying to break any contracts or laws. I simply want a running computer. I have the original cd for intervideo WinDVD 1.2.99d. But no serial number. I've contacted them but they refuse to talk to me cuz it was bundled from oem. I've contacted Dell and they refuse to help because the PC is out of warrenty. I'm just caught in the middle and mad as help. They can't be that hard up.

If anyone can help me out you can contact me at

Re: WinDVD v1.2.96c serial number

Rather than fighting for a copy, you might just want to buy it. You can pick up the latest version for under $35; if your not picky you could probably find an older version for under $20. You might also look at alternatives to WinDVD.

Though I don't see why Dell would have an issue just because the PC is out of warranty. If the program wasn't included on their OEM CD then they should be able to offer you the stand-alone CD. Will they let you upgrade?
