DMOZ RDF push

I know some people have a bone to pick with the ODP (DMOZ) but the new RDF is ready and so sites submitted between now and September should be appearing in directories everywhere soon. This includes my first site so I'll be interested to know if the directory REALLY has an impact on traffic.

Traffic off DMOZ? No I don't think you should expect any significant traffic at all. I remember when my old website was on it, I think I got a GRAND total of 10 hits from them in the 4 years it was on it...

The usefulness of being on the ODP is that it boosts your Google page rank; I think you already know this and that's about it.

It's something good to get listed but not something you'd sell your soul for...

I agree everyone does it for PR nowadays but I think it is a very good way for a relatively new website to have an almost failsafe way of at least appearing in google. I doubt anyone gets any traffic off DMOZ but instead one of the many mirrors is possible.

About freakin' time. Hopefully Google will update its dir soon.

The only good a DMOZ listing does is the possible PR boost.

It wouldn't surprise me ONE BIT if they (Google) dump that sorry-excuse-for-a-directory in the mid-term!

DMOZ has been having some major problems the last week or so. I believe there was some hardware failure...but it is really getting to be worthless.
