monitor help

Ok this is a strange problem i'm not sure what the problem is.
I got a new pc recenty P4 3g oh yea, and installed windows and setup all the drivers with the motherboard disc the pc came with. But now on the monitor I use I am seeing colours and shades in images that i've never seen before.

Like with images with fade effects, the image looks distorted like my monitor doesn't have enough colours to make it smooth.
The drivers for my graphics card are installed correctly (onboard SiS 661FX), as well as for my 'default monitor', colours are set at 16bit.
I tried installing a better driver for my monitor (CTX) but it makes no difference.

Can anyone suggest anything that would help me out? It's strange cos my monitor picks up colours that don't blend anymore. (Like I notice a difference in shades of gray with an interface I was working on). It's sought of like it picks up colours that were never there before. I'm baffled...especially now that i'm working on a new site i really need to get this fixed.
thanx

Are newer drivers available? Since it's an integrated graphics chip, you may see if Intel or SiS has newer drivers. Normally these types of problems are due to bad drivers.
