Re: [HOWTO]Belkin 54G Wireless card in linux (Broadcom chip)

First of all Hello to everyone, i am new at this board, just registered for this thread ^^ .

Technically:
My distro is Kubuntu 6.10 32 bit x86
My card is a Belkin F5D7000 Rev 3 chip 4306

My problem:

ive done nearly everything listed up here already, but i cant get my card working (activate it under the network settings)

i could install my driver with ndsiwrapper "driver bcmwl5 is already installed"
ok... but when i modprobe nothing happens, no freez no feedback i type it in but really nothing happens no feedback and if i use dmesg i got several errors:

bcm43xx: Error: Microcode "bcm43xx_microcode5.fw" not available or load failed.
and this error about 6 times

i am new to linux but not to IT but i dont know how to go on i allready thought about buying a new wlan card...

hopefully anyone can help me , especcialy that this topic is over 2 years old OMG...

Re: [HOWTO]Belkin 54G Wireless card in linux (Broadcom chip)

Hi Nasdero

I don't know about Kubuntu distro but in Fedora I had to add "bcm43xx" to blacklist ("/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist" in Fedora)

I hope that helps

Re: [HOWTO] Belkin 54G Wireless card in linux (Broadcom chip)

Hi, i have the same card and im trying to install it, so far i did all of what you wrote here and it worked, one thing is that when i get the message "driver present, driver installed" i also get the message "alternate driver: ssb"
something like that and i try to unload that driver but i get that the driver is used by B43.
i looked on a site and it said that this means that there are two drivers for the card.
and that my driver isnt been used .
what cna i do to solve this?
