with the other "Hardware present", other guys would be able to help u.

i hope so

Anyway....i forgot to say a couple of things. First, I run mandrake 10.0 and i'm pretty new with linux. Second. I got some compiling error in usb.c when i ran the "make" command. I checked that c file and modified some code lines, hoping that the "usb.c" file should not be used by my card, which is not connected via usb.
I know i did a "dirty" thing changing the source code...but i didn't know what to do... ??:

thanks again

bye

Hi Robby. You need to reconfigure your kernel to rid yourself of this warning. Under kernel hacking there is an option for use 4KB stacks that you should have checkmarked. If you are unfamiliar with how to do this, you should read up on this before you start. An excellent starting tutorial can be found here . Actually there are much more informative tutorials, but this is a good place to start.

Man, am I glad to here that! Seriously, I know that it is a pain sometimes, but it is so rewarding to get something working like this without any "wizards". I have always thought that people who experiment with Linux are going to learn alot more about computers than those that just stick with windows and its ever so informative BSOD's. Good Job!

Ok, I'm back from the first page of the topic. I decided I wasn't learning anything with the windows-esque fedora core 3 and decided to install wonderful, stable Slackware.
Now, I've compiled ndiswrapper, but when I go to install the driver, I get a driver invalid when I do
ndiswrapper -i /tmp/bcmwl5.inf

I'm using the one off the CD that came with it. I'm using the Belkin 54G card and Slack, like I said. I think I actually got it to take the valid driver in Fedora, so why won't it work now? Is there another source for a .inf that works?

Thanks in advance.

there was 2 .inf files on my driver cd (bcmwl5.inf and bcmwl5a.inf). Maybe you'd like to try the other one? Even if i don't think that it will help...trying is costless

Hi again

I got a new problem. I formatted the hard disk, and reinstalled all over. I upgraded the kernel (now i run 2.6.11.7) editing the config file and removing the "4k stack" problem
but now i fell in the same problem as goldsaturn....the driver seems invalid..but it's the one that came with the installation cd...
I run mdk10.1 and the "lspci" command says "02:05.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 03)", which should be supported by ndis wrapper.
What can I (golsaturn and I....We) do?

bye and thanks

Yeah, I've tried both drivers on the cd, and lspci does show the wireless nic. Still nothing. I haven't tried recompiling the kernel with the 4k stacks disabled, because other posters have gotten it to work without the recompile. Should I go ahead and do it again? I already upgraded to a 2.6 kernel, but I didn't fix the stacks option.
Thanks

Honestly, I don't recall using a driver off the CD. What CD are you refering to? The Belkin CD or Windows?

I downloaded everything from the 'net and it eventually worked. You might try finding a different driver off the Belkin site.

Unfortunantly, I can't remember everything I've done. I don't have the card w/ me because it was at the factory for repairs when I left for school and I haven't had a need for it yet.
