Blue Screen errorHey I was just wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to fix this problem for my gf. Whenever she logs in and all the programs are loading up a blue screen pops up and says this:
0x0000008E(0xc0000005, 0x804d9452, 0xf2d22c98, 0x00000000) beginning dump of physical memory physical memory dump complete. anyone know how to get rid of this screen because yea...it doesn't go away and says "a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer." o yea she has a dell and running windows XP any help would be appreciated thx -Jon |

General troubleshooting ideas: How long has this been happening? Have you tried the System Restore feature of XP to fix it? Anything special that causes it? Have you added any new hardware/software? Are all your drivers up-to-date? Have you got the latest patches from MS? Can you login via Safemode? Are there any other error messages that you get?

well this just happened and she can't use system restore because she turned it off because her virus scanner told her to turn it off in order to get rid of the virus...and i don't think she added new hardware or software and yes she can log into safemode...she gets the blue screen when she's not in safemode and appears after going to her username for XP...that is the only error msg she gets...hope this helps thx

Had this problem before, got a few things to post when I can access my computer once again. Lotsa things to search for with this one. Soon as I can pull up the info file I made for the problem I will paste it here, til then sorry

This code is almost always hardware compability issues which in most cases means driver issues or you need a BIO upgrade.
The first code: 0x0000008E is The KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED bug check has a value of 0x0000008E. This indicates that a kernel-mode program generated an exception which the error handler did not catch. the second part of this code is the the exception code that was not handled in this case: 0xC0000005: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION A memory access violation occurred. the other code are for the, The address at which the exception occurred, The trap frame, Reserved you may want to start with the video card and update the drivers for it I have heard of both the new Nvidia and ATI cards having some problems with this. here is the MSDN page for this error. __________________
