Problem

Hi,

I was not quite sure where to post this, so if it is in the wrong place just move it.

Anyway, yesterday my computer started making a strange noise. It sounds just like normal, only slightly higher pitched. Kind of like that ringing sound you get in your ears sometimes, only it's coming from inside the computer and sort of echos. It's very hard to desribe, and honestly, I think it might just be me. But I don't want to take any chances, so I decided to come here for some help.

I'm running an emacines T1096, it works prefectly fine despite the sound. The sound itself sounds like a normal computer while it is on, only slightly higher pitched. I'm wondering what this sound could be, and if it is a problem.

Thanks

I would say that it most likely a Fan either one of the case fans or one of the fans on the hardware. Open the case up and just listen for it.

Agreed. Usually high pitched noises are fan bearings, most commonly chip fans. If you find out it is a fan, try and replace it with a ball bearing fan; sleeve bearing fans wear out much faster and can be noisier.
