System32 ErrorUpon bootup, I receive a System32 folder that contains a bunch of other folders. I click on the X in the upper right corner and the window closes.
I also receive an error message: Error: Loader couldn't initialize service. Can anyone help me with these? |

Hi Agent 86 welcome to the GIDForums™
The problem you are having with the system32 folder popping up when you boot is normally caused by a null, incomplete, or damaged entry in the registry. You will need to take a look at your registry to fix this problem Now with the Error: Loader couldn't initialize service problem this could be almost anything there are a few ways you may try and solve this problem. First try hitting CTRL+ALT+DELETE after you boot and get this error and see if there are any program that are not responding. The second option is to do a repair install of windows if you decided to do a repair install then that may also take care of the other problem as well. Please note that all of the above information is for Windows XP, 2000, or NT. If this is another Windows like ME, 98, or 95 please let me know and I will see what I can find out about on these OS as well. If you decided to edit the registry then please take a look at this page for information on how to do that. PCXGamer __________________

Re: System32 ErrorQuote:
First of all, if your computer is still useable: Back up all user data files now! (Write to CD or use whatever method you usually use to back up your data.) If you have two hard drives in your machine, copy user data to the hard drive that does not contain the operating system. If any user data files are in a subdirectory that was created by an application, make copies to some directory that you create. This way, if you have to reinstall Windows, you can let it format the drive where Windows is installed. If you have to reinstall other applications (which you almost certainly will have to do if you reinstall Windows), the data that you have created will survive. Now: maybe a little detective work: If this is Windows XP: Open up the Control Panel. Double click on "Administrative Tools". In the "Administrative Tools" directory, double click on "Event Viewer". In the left pane of the "Event Viewer" highlight "System". In the right pane, scroll down and see if you have any Error or Warning messages. This might give a clue as to what service caused the Loader message (and might or might not be related to other symptoms). If you see any problem messages associated with some recent software that you have installed, you may be able to uninstall it. If the problem persists, then you can try this: In Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools, click on "System Restore" and follow instructions to "Restore to a Previous Time". The system automatically creates "Restore Points" whenever you install new software (at least it's supposed to). If something other than errant newly-installed software is causing your problem(s), this may not help, but I think it's worth a try. Good Luck!!! Regards, Dave |
