Why PII 266 MHz is reading at 124 MHz???New Question...
I have an old Pentium II 266 Mhz processor... Just recently, when I check the Windows system settings, its says my processor is running at 124 MHz??? Too double check, when running memtest86, it also says my processor is running at 124 Mhz... Does this mean my processor is dying??? Thanks for the help... |

I'd suggest downloading a CPU test utility and see what your actual clock speed is. It's possible that it is running at 124 and "mis-marked" (especially if grey market). Or it could be underclocked; check your bios settings or mobo jumpers to make sure everything is set to what it should be.

Thanks crystalattice! Thanks for the help! I love this forum!
It appears my BIOS settings were set to "Low Power" settings. OMG! I turn my notebook on now...and I feel like its a P4 3GHz!!!! But actually its a PII 266 MHz... Anyways...you don't even want to know how slow it was running at 120MHz... Thanks again! |
