Why has Harddrive disaapeared in Explorer?

Hi,

I have a Win XP 1.1hertz 512 ram with 40 gig hardrive. A few days ago I installed an additional 80 gig Maxtor drive, & everything had been working perfectly for a few days, but today I opened explorer to navagate to some files & it didnt display my D, E, & F dirve (CD burner, DVD burner, 80 ghig hardrive), yet it magically displays another drive labeled: DVD drive G:
The drives havent disappeared or stopped functioning, I can navaigate to them but i have to manually type in thier address in the explorer address bar.

IE: F:\Bobs files

If I open a program like MS Word, & try to open a file it wont list & let me access the D, E, F: drives. I dodnt know if this has anything to do with it, but I noticed when I installed the hardrive that my originall drive was a fat32 drive & the new one was an NTFS drive. Does anyone know what has happened or how I can fix this? Im a rookie at this stuff so anyone needs any info I listed my registry with a software called hijack this below:

help?

go to administrative tools - disk manager, does it display drives coreectly here. sometimes drives that are un-formatted or not set up correctly will stil be shown here and you can correct the error

also i would recomend disconecting and re-conecting ide cables - and checking jumpers (slave / master) are correct

any use?
