Win98SE screen of death

Hi, anyone know this?
I load win98SE into a freshly formatted new HD and in the process of updating system settings I get error meesages; Regsvr32 at Kernel32.DLL and Msrepl40.DLL. Then it blue screens and shuts down.
I have tried 5 times to load it and even put in a new CDRW and tried another O/S disc. All I am doing is changing the HD in the computer, most frustrating.

Do you have a 98 disk? I have never had any luck with 98SE myself, but I seem to remember that when I use to use 98 and 98SE I would always install the 98 first and then the 98SE on top. I also use to have problems with 98SE when installing anything new into the system both hardware and software. I would always install 98 then all the programs I wanted on the PC and then 98SE, It may only be me but if I did it any other way I would always have problems.

Hope this help

Win ME loads just fine, go figure. I tried that just to see what would happen.

I would say that in my option if ME loaded just fine then if it not a compatibly problem with any of your hardware then it just 98SE doing what it does best not working. ??:

Can I ask a question I'm not a big fan of ME or 98SE but if you have both and ME works why not just use it?
