I am sure you have a good reason....dear JdS,
I am sure you have a good reason.... I just wondered what it is? I have had the same email address with yahoo for 4 years maybe longer, I would not be a member of this forum if you refused yahoo addresses. If this is solving a problem for you, let me know, maybe I should ban yahoo and hotmail registrations too. |

A lot of people will signup with a false e-mail. What is the first e-mail address that you use, if you were asked to enter your e-mail address and knew you were getting spam? Mine would be something@ yahoo or hotmail.com
Which is most likely the same thing that happens here. __________________

I am guessing this may have something to do with the recent increase in spam postings to a certain forum. Not sure if it will really detract the spammers.

There are many reasons why I have decided to bar emails from these domains. Some of them include the reasons described in the existing replies on this thread but the number one reason for doing this is because emails sent from this forum end up in the junk folder of Hotmail and Yahoo.
So far so good... __________________

Re: Invalid email addresses.Quote:
Please adjust your junk filter. web.de is a very serious email provider in germany. And domain names in email addresses are easy to replace. Did you check if the affected emails really came from a web.de member? If so you can sue them at web.de support, because you have to receive a snail mail by post to become a web.de member due to security and abuse reasons. I doubt the spam came from web.de, but the spammer abused the web.de adresses. the from and the Received: from header are two different things. I asked a friend of mine to use his email address to subscribe the fltk forum. I don't want to sign up a new email account. |

Re: Invalid email addresses.Thank you for your feedback, floogy.
I can't remember why I added web.de to the list now but I will consider removing it. The list here does not only mean the domain name is being abused by spammers, but it can also mean that the domain name's mail server is rejecting emails sent by this web site. What is the point of allowing registrations if you're never going to receive the activation emails? |
