Anyone heard of Dotster?

I'm thinking of stopping being a tight **** and buying a domain. I've heard recommendations of a company called dotster. Has anyone heard them or used them? If so I would be interested to know your views about domain registration companies, which one would you choose. This one has $14.95 hosting for a year and $27.95 for 2, which is pretty reasonable. What do you lot think? Thanks in advance.

Elmseeker is on a distinguished road
Just keep in mind that you get what you pay for, at $14.95/year you're most likely not going to get very good service or alot of features.

I register all my domains with registerfly.com. I even got http://gidhelp.com for just $8.99 (it was a limited time offer which they periodically offer existing members).

Their domain manager is simply fantastic; support though, is quite slow.

If they (dotster) offer you domain + hosting for 14.95 / year, it's quite a good deal but run the package by us before you commit any money.

I just "herd" of that nasty bit of mispelling I did
Thanks for the help guys my idea was (and I know most do it) to use a domain seller that isn't going to kick me in the balls if I want to change host.
I didn't know this before but it is a bonus:

I glanced through what they're offering and I think the web hosting offered, if any, is time-limited.

$14.95 is still a bit high in this case. Look around more and yes, you are right, a good domain manager is essential.

Like I use mine (registerfly's domain manager) to even host http://topsites.gidhelp.com in a completely different server than http://gidhelp.com. Former, with www.vilitas.com and the latter with the crappiest host on the planet.

Changing servers I do myself through the domain manager... and I don't pay $14.95, for sure!

I have heard good things about GoDaddy.com and they seem pretty cheap to boot.

I am planning to get another domain soon so I might give godaddy.com a go. Just to compare and to have a qualified opinion the next time someone asks.

I am thinking of transfering to Namecheap when my next domain comes up for renewal. Any opinions on them?

I believe the transfer is free...as long as you renew for atleast one year.

The main issues with these domain registrars are the interfaces and who are they reselling for? My current (higher level) registrar is Dotregistrar, Namecheap uses Enom - I don't know about GoDaddy.
