Unable to display images of BBSWhenever I get to some bbs, none of the images in that page has been displayed, is it about the hyper text tranfer protocol?

Do images work normally when not at a BBS? What program are you using? What BBS are you going to and is it graphics (e.g. gifs) or photos (e.g. jpeg) that don't work?
You might double check your browser settings for images and Javascript. __________________

Well does your browser show you any images at all, ever? I see no logical reason why only BB images should be broken for you.
There is a setting in Internet Options->Advanced where you can stop images being downloaded. Is it selected? You wouldn't have a fancy firewall on your laptop that stops images? The XP built in one sure doesn't. Have you tried installing a different browser? I recommend www.mozilla.org! GF |

The only other thing I can think of is that there's an issue on the server side; images not linked properly or something. But you said you can see them on your desktop, so that doesn't sound right. I really don't know. It does sound like something in your settings. I know Opera has a feature that enables you to toggle images between all, none, or just the cached ones. Can you right-click on an image and do a "view image" manually?

If you can't do a "view image", then it means the image isn't even being xmitted to you. If it doesn't work w/ Firefox either, then I would say it's either a problem w/ the server or you computer itself, not your browser. That could mean a firewall (which you said you don't have, not a good idea), ad-killer software, or something else.
The only thing I could really suggest is use another browser (FF, Opera, Mozilla) and make sure it's a system-wide problem, not just an issue w/ IE. If it is system-wide, then it's probably another app causing the problem so you'd have to do an inventory and see what may be doing it. __________________

If it is with the server, then how come it is working with my desktop? and I do have an ad-killer in both my laptop and desktop...I dont think it is the one causing the problem. It is working normally with my desktop. I will try to install those browsers you said, and see what happens next. Is it possible that the web page doesn't fit to Window Xp? I just realize my desktop is only windows me. |
