SW Synth

I'm not sure if anyone else has this problem, but on my computer (XP), everytime a midi song starts playing, the SW Synth volume gets reset to the top, making it extremely loud, so I have to keep going to sound properties and setting the volume lower everytime a midi starts. Is there any way to stop it from resetting, so it stays at the volume I have it when a song starts?
