1 SATA drive + 0 floppy drives = no XP?

I just spent most of the afternoon putting together my new system.
After having carefully and lovingly installed all the components, I felt the time was finally there to boot the baby up...

The BIOS loaded fine, everything seemed well, so I slid the XP install disc into the optical drive, and sat back for Windows to do its thing.

Unfortunately, however, Microsoft's finest did not seem to think my lone SATA hard drive was good enough for it to be installed on, stating that it could not detect a hard drive in my system.

After a bit of browisng around on the net, it seems that I need to press F6 and load the drivers, supplied on a floppy that came with my Abit A8V motherboard.

As I did not deem a floppy drive necessary in these modern times, I did not order one for my new pc... so I can't really stick the floppy anywhere.

Does this mean I'm being forced to buy a floppy drive?

What's gonna be next, having to buy a tape recorder to install a new speaker system?

I'm curious if you could load them from a CD. That is, copy the floppy to a CD and load it off that. Of course, you'd have to have a CD driver loaded also. I've never tried it before, but theoretically, you should be able to make a boot CD, like the old boot floppies, and have both the CD and HD drivers on it.

Of course, you'll have to have access to another computer...

Can you borrow a floppy? Or buy one, use it, then return it? "Yeah, I don't need it anymore, my friend is giving me his." :-P
