On my website http://farnell.topcities.com I have a problem because the index page is around 100kb of information which is ok but (and there is a MAJOR but) it does not appear until everything is loaded. How do I make it so that each element or group of objects will appear before the entire site has loaded. Otherwise I'm sure I am losing people thinking the site does not exist.
Thanks in advance

I didn't look at your source code but I can guess you've put it ALL in one BIG table? If yes, break it up... put at least 3 tables, this way each table will appear as they get loaded...

I'm not overly confident with tables yet. Is there any kind of advice (if you wouldn't mind looking at my source code) to what I should do in order to keep the look of my website but alter the tables. That was a bit confusing but you get what I mean.
Thanks in advance

Rob, I took a look and yeah, it's all in a table... and the layout you have now makes it nearly impossible to break the table into smaller bits (since columns run on each side).

You might have go with <div>s and CSS but I have no experience except to suggest it.

If your server supports PHP / zlib, you might compress the html - just a thought..

BTW, I voted at InSiteNow? ... and you thought YOUR page took a while to load

Here's also something I picked up while scanning your html:
Code:
Systems Ergonomics file can be found here <a href= "file:///c|/program%20files/html-helper/webmaster/coolfreepages/space/systems.doc">SYSTEMS ERGONOMICS FILE</a>

Thanks for pointing that out I just started using dreamweaver MX and it changed a load of my web page addresses. The point is I am using CSS but obviously I haven't grasped it totally yet. As for <div> I do use those but they are within the table. Help I'm a bit out of my depth here. Oh well I'm supposed to be busy now so I'll do it later when I'm on "another" break.
