irremovable information in ID3 tags of MP3s

as the subject goes, i want to find out if there is a way wherein i can put some irremovable information in the ID3 tags so that its visible when someone plays the file in Winamp or anyother software but is not 'directly editable' ..

by directly i mean, jus right clicking the file and editing tags... or may be by using a tagger software...

indirect ways like opening in an editor will always be there... but is there a way to stop direct editing of tags...

plzzzzzzzz anyone help..

need this badly ..

thx to anyone who replies in advance

I really don't know
Any file on your computer is editable. Whether opening it in Notepad or a Hex Editor, anyone who know what they're doing will be able to edit a file, irrespective of how it's encoded. If you can edit the MP3 file, then the ID3 tag is hardly challenging.

I've found tools that attempt to protect MP3s from being edited, but none I'd recommend. They all work on the principle that the file is encrypted & another encapsulating program decrypts it & plays it (Winamp doesn't even get a look in), but this can be subverted should one be learned & determined enough.

MP3 is not a copyright safe invention (I doubt somehow it was ever supposed to be). If you've got to protect your music, I suggest using another technology like WMA - they're encrypted tightly to stop people messing around with them - but the usability suffers as a consequence.

Best I can suggest!
