Hello gmrstudios,

I don't know if you already knew this but the original people behind vilitas.com are no longer managing the service. More details can be found on this post.

Unhappy

Same problem for us

We can't logon to control panel for our account. We have sent an email to support@vilitas.com (2 or 3 times) but we did not received any answer.

It's also seems that there is a problem with SMTP service: some emails sent with our email client (Mozilla) was not received at destinantion. What can we do now ?

Yes, I would certainly move if I were in your situation today.

There's no place for sentimentality when $$$ is involved. Vilitas was good when Scott and his team were at the helm, this is clearly not the case anymore so move on if things have started to go down hill for you.

Vilitas alternatives? That's a good question. I found vilitas by stalking Scott and his messages on a popular forum. If I were looking for another host, that is what I will be doing. Forget the reviews and them... if the owner is talking crap on public forums, you don't want to deal with them no matter how sweet the deal, that's for sure.

Just read through some of the posts inside the forum here : http://www.gidforums.com/f-24.html , they were nearly all posted by the admins or owners of the hosting companies featured in their ads.

This has turned into a nightmare for me. They don't respond to my frequent pleas for help or answers. I had paid for a full year, matching the calendar year. Today I get a monthly bill. Mail servers seem flakey.

It couldn't come at a worse time as I truly don't have hours and hours to hunt down a new host comparable to the OLD Vilitas.

If others are finding decent replacements I would be so appreciative if you'd share what you've found. I am really desparate here... things were so good I had let down my guard and stopped constantly searching for a better or replacement host.

Going to wimper in the corner now,
Beth

Beth,

There are hundreds of other good hosts out there. Since you've paid for a full year in advance, you probably have to weigh the loss of that payment versus the flaky service you seem to be getting.

Unfortunately, there is no real quick and easy way of finding a good webhost. I would suggest you start researching now and create your 'shortlist' so that a quick move is possible if things get worse.

Thanks Div,
I stopped wimpering long enough to drag myself out of the corner and start looking. Sensing it was inevitable I had started doing very frequent 100% backups of what's on their servers a week or two ago.

I'm not *really* losing much but jumping as I got a discount for paying for the year, paid ten got two free. It's the moving of three sites that's daunting.

Now to find the host! *said with determination* Yes, there are hundreds but they can change so fast.

How much space/bandwidth do you want?
What is the maximum price you will pay?
What do you want to pay?
Any other requirements?
OS?
FrontPage Extensions?
Multiple Domains?
