What do you feel about Google Toolbar?

Hi guys,
Just wondering, do you use Google Toolbar? For me, it has made searching much easier now. If you want to get rid of those annoying pop-up, do use it.

Since Mozilla's FireFox (FF) is my default / preferred browser nowadays, I have very little use for (starting up) Microsoft's Internet Explorer (MSIE).

However, the Google Toolbar is still installed on my MSIE to this day. Before FF and when MSIE was my default browser, the Google Toolbar (GT) did a pretty good job at blocking pop ads, though I am hearing that that's not the case anymore.
FF: 1 - GT: 0

The option to 'search' off the Toolbar is also adapted (very well) by the FF browser. It even does one better - you can add any number of search engines to the list!
FF: 2 - GT: 0

The only real value to the GT since FF, was the web page Google Page Rank indicator. I said "was" because we all know now, how even that's being simulated by an available FF extension. I'd say this is a draw...

Final tally: (Mozilla) FireFox 2 - Google Toolbar 0

I use Opera pretty much exclusively. For the times when a site absolutely won't let me in (even when I use Opera's spoofing feature), I use Firefox. As FF gets better, I'm thinking I may switch to it, unless Opera can do better on the next upgrade.

Opera's pop-up blocker is one of the best I know of, since you can tell it to only allow requested pop-ups. But FF has more 3rd party plugins (the "extensions") that allow a lot of flexibility.

I think it's quite stupid that people have to have a plugin, such as the Google Toolbar, for IE to do many of the things other browser's have built-in. MS just doesn't care anymore because they own the market (like it or not). MS is the perfect example of how a monopolistic company has no reason to improve it's products.

I used to use IE at work, cuz that's all we have. However, I found out that I can install Opera on nearly any system because you don't have to have admin rights for it to work. Now I've got my coworkers using it at work and at home. Power to the people!! ;-)

in my opinion Mozilla beats google toolbar by far. I have never used google toolbar for more than a day because it didnt help me, and Mozilla has google as a search browser in the url indicator. It works wonderfully and I cant stand IE. But thats just me.

I have the google toolbar & use IE. Probably the last around But I have used IE for about eight years I guess now. Maybe longer? Hard for me to change. And actually when I installed the google toolbar, I took it off for awhile. (Change) LOL - every so often, it goes screwy on me & I have to uninstall / re-install it because it 'joins' another toolbar

No you're not the last one. A friend of mine tried Mozilla once, wanted to make the buttons smaller, spent five minutes searching and uninstalled it going back to IE. He also didn't like Shrek. I worry about him ;-)

Test your pop-up blocker

Here's a web tool that allows anybody to test their pop-up killer or blocker. http://www.kephyr.com/popupkillertest/

From my own tests on this page, FF performed really well, blocking most of them (I did the test quite a while ago and that is why I cannot post details).

For the guys that use Opera, do you mean you actually PAID for a browser or are you just using the free version with the ads on top? *shudders*
