Ram Trouble Please HELP

right could someone please help i have just got me computer 2 x 512MB ddr ram they are pc3200 which is ment to run at 400mhz right.

i had 512mb ram in me pc and when i checked the memory in the BIOS setup it says the memory is running at 400mhz, But once i installed me 2 new 512mb ram the BIOS setup said my ram is now running at 333mhz im not sure why the ram is running at 333mhz when i know i paid for 400mhz ram.
only difference with the ram i purchased and the ram already installed in me pc was the CL the one in me pc is 3CL and the ones i installed is 2.5CL i cant see why that would make the ram run at 333mhz im using a 3.2Ghz P4 HT CPU and the front side bus is 800mhz.

if anyone could gimme a solution why the ram is running at 333mhz please explain coz its doing me head in.

btw hope thats all the info needed and you guys understood me problem

soz also motherboard is Intel 875P chipset

I'm assuming this is "factory-fresh" RAM. Some unscrupulous dealers will alter the numbers to charge more for slower RAM.

The CL rating has nothing to do w/ MHz; it's just a measure of the latency of the memory. You might want to check the settings in you BIOS; there might be a default setting for memory that needs adjusted.

I haven't kept up to date w/ chipsets. Perhaps the 875 throttles down on the FSB when you have more than one RAM stick installed. I would suggest checking the specs for the 875 and see if there's something about that. You might also look at Intel's website and see if this particular problem is mentioned.
