No Sound


when i use aol instant messanger if i recieve a message all it does is beep...no sound comes from speakers. this also happens when i try to listen to music but instead it says sound application in use by another device....how do i fix this?????

Does the problem go away if you reboot? Usually this happens when an app that uses sound crashes but still has control of the soundcard. Other programs that try to use the card aren't able to, hence the error message you get.

If the problem goes away when you reboot, then it should be just a matter of finding out the bad program. If it doesn't, then more troubleshooting will be required.

if you do find a bad program you can use task manager to close the program. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to access your task manager.

If you reboot and are still having problems (like crystalattice said) it could possibly driver problems, or some weird virus...but i dout it
