Hi everyone-

anybody can help me to fix my windows media player. I have this message when I tried to play the cd " windows media player cannot play this dvd because a compatible dvd decoder is not installed on your computer." So what should I do? I tried to down a software but I don't know that was a right one, and I still have the same problem. I can't tell which compatible sofware I have to downoad. Please advice in details. Thanks in advance.

If the above instructions are not working try:

1. Download Windows Media Player 11 from Microsoft download.
2. Extract the setup downloaded.
3. Download LegitLibM.dll from -->http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/10/29/329343/legitlibm.rar<--
4. Extract legitlibm.rar.
5. Copy and paste legitlibm.dll to the extracted Windows Media Player setup (folder). Overwrite it.
6. Run 'setup_wm'

If you the problem is Windows Media Player 11 installation:

1. Uninstall Windows Media Player 11.
2. Download Windows Media Player 10 from -->http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/2/A/12A31F29-2FA9-4F50-B95D-E45EF7013F87/MP10Setup.exe<--
3. Download Windows Media Player 11 from Microsoft download.
4. Extract the setup downloaded. (wmp11)
5. Download LegitLibM.dll from -->http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/10/29/329343/legitlibm.rar<--
6. Extract legitlibm.rar.
7. Copy and paste legitlibm.dll to the extracted Windows Media Player 11 setup (folder). Overwrite it.
8. Run 'setup_wm'

Also try other players like PowerDVD.
The Windows Media Player gets easily corrupted, to resolve it, you have to rollback to a previous version, uninstall relative updates and then reinstall with a newer version.

i recommend downloading the available plug-ins....or simply use another program like everyone has suggested...I personally suggest VLC for .AVI's and other files like that, for an actual DVD though...maybe DivX...These have their own decoders (codec's) packages or whatever already in them making them able to play just about anything
