Trouble with Gainward Video Card

I just picked up a Gainward Geforce FX 5700 Ultra 256mb 880 power pack video card. When ever I launch a game (and with games only) I get a few seconds of smooth looking graphics then it starts to get very glitchy on me, I've tried downloading the latest and archived drivers from Nvida, adjusting every setting that I can think of and I still get bad on screen visuals. :-(

If anyone else has had this problem if you could please throw me a bone and let me know what you had to do to hopefully fix this problem I'd appreacitate it very much!

PC stats:
1.8 Intel Processor
D850GB Intel Motherboard
768mb PC-800 Memory
400w Antec Power Supply
Nvidia 5700 Ultra

Cant remeber off the top of my head, and i cant seem to find the manuals either at the moment, but i do know Jedi Knights 2 should run no problem with this card and it's not, neither is Counter Stike.

I had to send the card back after I put it in 4 other PC's. I never could get the card to work right. It may have been a defective card, I did hear of other people having trouble with that same card though so I'd just make sure who ever you buy it from has a good return policy. Hope ya have better luck than I did.

I know that for JoeTurbo this comes a little too late but hopefully if Yasmin has any problems with one this may help him out. I'm sorry I couldn't get to this sooner. But did you check the temp of your system and video card? Normally lagging and glitchy graphic are a good sign of over heating. If you did check these things and they were ok, then I would say that it was a pretty good bet that the card was bad. Once again sorry I was late on a reply I hope this may help in the future.

Hi Joe
Thanks for the update, i am purchasing the card from a dealer that provides
a 3yr onsite guarantee so it should be ok.

That was the first thing I did when I started to get bad visuals and everything was in the normal range for that card So I've decided to get a Nvidia 6800 GT 256 instead once I get all the other parts ordered for my PC I'll get that ordered and hopefully have a blast playing HL2 on it.
