What do you guys look for in a good affiliate program? Obviously timely competitive payouts are a givin.

But what else do you look for, I would like to hear your thoughts.

What do I look for:

* Clear/understandable reporting interface
* Either access to a rep by phone or chat. (Email is a givin)
* Incentive programs
* $$$

When I looked at affiliate programs in the past, I only seek out the ones that match the following conditions:

• It's NOT run in-house.
• It's managed by a reputable third party, the likes of linkshare, cj, befree etc.
• It's cookie "return days" are NOT something ridiculous like 1 day.
• I have content that relates to or complements the product or service.

Like I said, that was in the past, nowadays, I try to avoid affiliate programs like the plague!

I like the concept behind CJ, LinkShare, etc. The only problem i have with them is that the merchants completly under cut their payout. I have gone to some merchants direct and have recieved double the payout than I would running them at CJ.
