I think its a little better now.

Yesterday I received an email from vilitas announcing the end of the migration, and today all seems to work well.

All this is quite unfortunate. Were you guys kept informed? Because at the end of the day, that's very important.

Let's hope all this is behind us now and we can expect the usual uninterrupted service that we've grown accustomed to in the past.

Hi guys, figured I should drop in and say something about this whole thing. The merger is a result of personal issues on my end that require my attention and I wanted to be moved into a more junior position of responsibility so I could take care of other matters in life. I'll tell you that this migration has been one of the most stressful events I can remember and it has been very very difficult to keep up with things.

Nick, the module you mention should have been installed two days ago, I am not sure what the hold up is exactly, but there is a big list of tasks that still have to be done. In any event, my desire to be junior has left me without the access required to install perl modules or do anything without a sysadmin.

Once everything is worked out things should return to normal again, in fact they should improvde significantly. The folks in charge have a lot to offer, it's just taking a while to get everything lined up properly. Believe it or not, the whole fallout starts with the migration tools that PSOFT publishes. They just did not work at all and created a whole slew of things that "looked okay" at a glance, but when you checked them out further it was a mess. But it wasn't all PSOFT's problem either. We took way too long to do very simple things and that caused a backlog of much larger things to start building up and now we have to tackle those as well.

Funny, I say we but all I can do is whine and scream and hope people have the time to jump in and do the things *I* think are the most important.

Perception is eveything right? I firmly believe that if you can keep things running smooth on the surface while you silently work to solidify the stuff under the covers you'll be much better off. Others believe in a different approach.

I wish I could snap my fingers and everything would be perfect again. I never imagined that this could be so difficult.

Scott,
Thanks for taking the time to drop by and clarify things. I respect your point about wishing to take a step back as sometimes the pressures of work and business can overtake personal and family life and from time to time we all have to take a reality check.

Re the migration, I will say on the positive side that I have barely noticed any down-time and you have taken the time to keep us updated with progress reports. It does seem however that PSOFT should maybe have tested their migration software more thoughroughly than they have done before releasing it for use.

I'd guess you are 90% there, but in my experience with these kind of projects its that last 10% that takes most effort. If you can continue to provide the service to the customer/end user in the meantime you can keep them from screaming at you and get on and sort out all the stuff in the background.

Cya,
NickBeee.
